About

Kadua is a social enterprise* uplifting Filipino arts, culture and community. We create and curate a variety of art and products by Filipino and Filipino American artists and makers. Each purchase supports cultural programs and community initiatives empowering the next generation of Filipinos in Anchorage, Alaska and beyond.

Kadua is an Ilokano word meaning “companion.” In 2025, Kadua began as a creative outlet for Shayne Nuesca, showcasing the arts and culture of her home province, La Union, Philippines, and sharing her Ilokano heritage with her community in Anchorage. It evolved into a social entrepreneurship after recognizing the need to cultivate supportive spaces for younger Filipino Americans who are building community in innovative and creative ways.

Currently operating as a pop-up, Kadua aims to become a collaborative space where Filipino Americans can thrive, give back and pursue art without limits.

*Kadua operates as an LLC because the State of Alaska does not currently have a business structure for social enterprises.
